Harvest Moon Lyrics

Harvest Moon

Words and music by Anke Summerhill
Time so long ago
I can still remember how it used to be
The old mill by the river
Now its grinding days are through
But I know it's standing there still
It's the night of the harvest moon

Now you're by my side
Will you tell me good-bye soon
The sun will soon be rising
And the stars, they'll go to sleep
But these are memories to keep

Grandpa taught me to ride
My bicycle out in the yard around his house
And when I'd go too fast
He'd always slow me down
But those times now lie in the past

And it's the night of the harvest moon
Now you're by my side
Will you tell me good-bye soon

The sun will soon be rising
And the stars, they'll go to sleep
But these are memories to keep
And when I think about those days
When I wore a young girl's face
And that moon was shining down on me

Well, that old moon he's shining still
And he lives out by that mill
A reminder of how simple life can be
When it's the night of the harvest moon

Now you're by my side
Will you tell me good-bye soon
The sun will soon be rising
And the stars, they'll go to sleep
But these are memories to keep
Memories to keep
